The Belize EduVenture

It is a balance of personal and professional growth and amazing adventure. Born of a conversation about teacher travel and learning, the mission of the Belize EduVenture is two-fold: 1) engage in learning experiences with students and teachers in schools in Belize while reigniting our teaching passions and 2) experience a unique travel adventure.   

I enjoy offering my services as a Belize EduVenture volunteer co-leader (My co-author, Joy Stephens, organizes this event). This is a customized, experiential travel and service learning experience based on the philosophy of “experience it to embrace it.” 

If you would like to experience a bit of this wonderful country and work in schools, you can come join us on our next EduVenture experience.  

The engagements of the Belize EduVenture include:

• Morning experiences in schools. We connect with teachers, create and facilitate lessons with learners, reflect on our own practice, and collaborate with like-minded teachers to reignite our passion of reaching all learners.

• Afternoon experiences in Belize landscape.  We choose our adventures: exploring Maya ruins and ascending temples with views of Belize and Guatemala, spending the afternoon with a women's cooperative group learning craft techniques, zip lining through the rain forest canopy, or hiking with a local expert to learn about medicinal properties of rain forest flora.
