Equity Pedagogy:  Developing “Fair and Inclusive” Classrooms

Educational equity means assuring that students from all cultures and races have the opportunity to achieve. The goal is to create classrooms where all students get what they need to thrive and develop successful life skills. In this seminar, you will learn brain-based strategies that shape your pedagogy. These doable strategies allow equity and excellence to go hand-in-hand in your classroom instruction. We begin with self-reflection to highlight what you bring culturally, emotionally and academically to your teaching and how that can support (or challenge!) the way you work with your students. You will also gain insights on students from varying backgrounds and their unique learning needs. “Fair is Not Equal.” The more we subscribe to that belief, the more we can make it real and transparent for our students.
